JUMBO JET JUBILEE - 747 and A380

$69.00 USD
- +

With the introduction of the Boeing 747-100 in the 1960’s, the jumbo jet era began. Recently, the Airbus A380 joined the “queen” and ruled the skies. Their future is in question, though. Economics has favored twin-engined airliners for their fuel economy and lower operating costs. The giants of the skies will continue to be around, but not in large numbers.

Artist's comment: I've always been a bigger fan of large airliners than fighter jets. While the A380 never touched my heart as much as the 747, both are worthy of mention. The 747 is perhaps the most interesting airliner to draw; she has many interesting design and shape details that make her one of the most unique airliners ever made. I've rarely ever drawn the A380, but there is a lot to appreciate about the double-decker monster, such as that it has incredibly large wings, far larger than those on the 747.
